INTRODUCTION

Biochemistry is the branch of science that explores the metabolic/ chemical processes within and related to living organisms. Medical Biochemistry is the branch that deals with these in the human body.

 

Biochemistry is one of the three initial departments from which Undergraduate medical education starts. Biochemistry makes a significant contribution in the medical field be it metabolic pathway storage disease, mechanism of action of varied bio-molecules or their inter and intra cellular communications.

Biochemistry subject integrates and summarizes the essentials of the core subjects. Almost all areas of the life Sciences are being uncovered and developed through biochemical methodology & research.

Infrastructures, Facilities & Activities

1)   Infrastructure

The Department has basic infrastructure facilities with smart class to meet the requirement for teaching and research in various areas of Biochemistry. It has well equipped laboratory for undergraduate teaching separate laboratory for research and day to day investigations of patients using the S.N.M.M.C.H. Dhanbad.

2)   Activities

a.) Undergraduate teaching (MBBS), Paramedical teaching, Seminar with Students, interdepartmental Journal Club, Group Discussion, Seminar etc.

b.) Theory & Practical Classes of Undergraduate MBBS, Paramedical Students, Seminar with Students, interdepartmental Journal Club, Group Discussion, Seminar etc.

3)   Teaching & Training

In addition to undergraduate (MBBS), teaching training of Paramedical students is also conducted.

4)   Research/ Publication

Current research activities with major emphasis on Covid-19 on its Biochemical parameters and immunology.

5)   Achievement

Successfully done this MBBS Course Classes, Para medical Classes, Excellent Lab Work done during Covid-19 pandemic.

6)   Event (Upcoming/Ongoing)

Undergraduate MBBS, Paramedical classes and other academic activities are done in the Department. Investigations of hospital patients including Covid-19 positive patients.
